Ciri Fenzel, Founder & President
As BREATHE’s Founder and Principal Consultant, Ciri Fenzel has over 20 years of diverse marketing experience with Fortune 100 companies. She has worked extensively with admired and trusted brands, including: Reebok, Hanes, Hanes Her Way, Champion, Wrangler, Smith & Wesson, Riders by the Makers of Lee, Chic, Gitano, Rustler, Bestform, Curvation, Wal-Mart, Kmart, Target, Belk, and Rack Room Shoes.
Throughout the course of her career Ciri has spent significant time working in all stages of the product marketing pipeline—from manufacturing at Reebok and VF Corporation to the advertising agency world at Mullen Long Haymes Carr to national retail as marketing director for Just for Feet. As a result, Ciri has a rare breadth and depth of marketing experience and a unique ability to both plan and execute a corporate marketing strategy from ideation to point-of-purchase.
With her unique background and qualifications, in 2004, Ciri launched BREATHE, a consulting firm that provides an objective, results-driven and consumer connected "in-the-stores" retail marketing approach for Fortune 500 companies and start-ups alike. Focused on marketing when and where the purchase is made, Ciri and her team at BREATHE pick up where other strategic marketing agencies typically stop working, following through with retail intelligence gathering, ideation, strategy, design and implementation at the point-of-purchase. BREATHE’s clients have ranged from national brands like Wrangler Home, Smith & Wesson, Liquid Wrench and Stroller Strides to smaller niche brands like Urbancowgirl.com and CENSA.org.
Over the last several years, Ciri has been at the forefront of the consumer convergence of traditional and online marketing, honing an expertise in the ever-evolving arena of the social web and the future of branding, fueled by her passionate personal interest and in-the-trenches participation.
Today, BREATHE stands at the intersection of in-the-stores retail marketing and in-the-moment social web marketing, offering up-to-the-minute services, including strategy development, custom program design, implementation and execution, community management and objectives measurement to connect businesses with the new “everywhere consumer.”
Whether in store, online or mobile, Ciri and her associates engage word-of-mouth, social media and other buzz generators to engage online and offline communities, inspiring them to try new products and services. She is constantly involved, staying on top of the trends, and influencing social media’s growing population where information exchange is real-time, instant, and moving-by-the-minute. For today’s brands, public opinion is the ultimate arbiter in the new and now.
Ciri earned her B.S. in apparel marketing and merchandising from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and is pursuing her M.A. in communication at Johns Hopkins. She lives in Washington, DC with her husband and three children.
